How I’m Using Grok Bot to Turn 5-Year-Old Snapchat Screenshots into Daily Social Videos

  • by

Five years ago I started a Snapchat streak with my kids. Every day I’d send them a short clip with a wry, slightly bleak one-liner — the kind of dad humor that lands somewhere between a dad joke and a late-night thought you probably shouldn’t say out loud. We called it Dark Thoughts by Dad.

Those moments lived as Snapchat videos. Over time I grabbed still screenshots from them — frozen frames of a streak that never stopped. For years they sat on my phone as static photos. Funny. Personal. Completely unused.

Now they’re daily content.

What changed

I built a workflow with Grok Bot that turns those old screenshots into short videos and ships them every day to TikTok, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn.

Here’s the loop:

  1. Source — A still photo from the original Snapchat streak (screenshots I took years ago).
  2. Voice — Grok Bot pulls the Dark Thoughts by Dad line and runs it through ElevenLabs with my cloned voice, so the quote sounds like me, not a generic TTS voice.
  3. Video — That still + the voiceover become a short video ready to post.
  4. Schedule — Grok Bot pushes the finished video into Publer, which schedules and publishes it across TikTok, Instagram, X, and LinkedIn.

I don’t babysit each platform. I don’t re-record the same line four times. The streak that started as a private joke with my kids is now a content engine — same voice, same tone, same dad energy — running on a schedule.

Why this works for me

The hard part of daily content isn’t usually the idea. It’s the friction: export, caption, upload, schedule, repeat. Grok Bot removes that friction. ElevenLabs keeps the voice consistent. Publer keeps the platforms consistent. The photos already existed. The quotes already existed. What’s new is the system that wakes them up every day.

Dark Thoughts by Dad started as a streak. Now it’s a pipeline — and Grok Bot is the one that runs it.
